International travellers use Narita or Haneda. For domestic flights, Akita (2.5 hrs) or Iwate-Hanamaki (1 hr) airports are closest.
By Train
Take the Shinkansen to Morioka, then a local train and private railway to Appi Kogen. JR East Pass covers the first part.
By Car
Drive from Morioka City to Appi Kogen (approx. 45 mins). A car also lets you explore nearby Hachimantai resorts.
By Bus
Regular buses run from Morioka Station to Appi Kogen, taking about 50 minutes.
